Freelancers across Europe are coming together to organize and improve their opportunities. This event brings together freelancers to network, get practical tips on growing their business, and learn about campaigns. The European Freelancers' Movement is a project of EFIP, the network of organizations representing independent workers.

John Niland – Keynote: Talking about Money (19:00h)

Most successful freelancers have found that one of the most powerful shifts they made in their business was how they spoke about their fees. A few simple skills can add thousands to annual revenue, for a minimum of extra effort.

At the same time, we all work in an economy where purchasers have become equally adept at reducing rates… often by pitting freelancers against each other. So what do you need to learn to obtain more value from the hours that you work?

In this session, John Niland (patron of EFIP) will give examples of the common pitfalls to avoid. Using real-life case studies, he will demonstrate how freelancers can often double their rates by learning some basic conversation skills about money.

Daniel Foster - How freelancers can protect their work (ca. 20:00h)

In today's digital media landscape, content is key to success. And much of that content is being created by freelancers who often don't benefit from its use. There are some simple things creative freelancers can do to protect their work, and to take action when their copyright is abused.

Daniel Foster is founder of Pixsy, an online service that helps photographers fight against image theft. He will talk about the tools freelancers can use to secure their rights, and what to do if they discover someone is using their work without permission. - www.pixsy.com

Emilie Barbry - How to present your projects? (ca. 20:15h)

You found a client? Congratulations. Now, it is time to present your project! How do you proceed? The way you introduce yourself and the project to your client is a decisive and important step that has to be well prepared. Graphic designer Emilie Barbry will share the tricks she has developed and what she has learnt so far during her freelance activity.
